Charter Overview
River Valley Charter Service, located in Chillicothe, offers fully-equipped guided fishing trips on the Illinois River and surrounding areas. Captain Austin Griggs, a Central Illinois native and 21-year U.S. Coast Guard veteran, brings extensive experience in operating different-sized watercraft. Retiring in 2019, he obtained his Merchant Mariner Credentials from Explorers Guide LLC and established River Valley Charter Service LLC.
During your trip, Captain Austin will provide a personalized seminar on tips and techniques specific to the waters of Central Illinois. He will also share insights on using electronics and interpreting the screen to locate ideal fishing spots. Building lasting relationships with clients is Captain Austin's priority during your time on the water.
The 19' Vexus angler boat you'll be using can accommodate up to 3 guests comfortably. It is equipped with a single 200 HP Mercury v8 engine, Humminbird and Lowrance navigation technology, and a wireless trolling motor. Additional features include a livewell and an ice-box.
Your fishing experience with River Valley Charter Service will target a diverse range of prized freshwater species, such as Largemouth, Smallmouth, and White Bass, Walleye, Crappie, Sauger, and Carp. You'll have the opportunity to troll, spin, and jig using light tackle. Feel free to bring your kids and keep your catch.
Captain Austin will provide the necessary fishing tackle, live bait, and lures. It's recommended to bring your own snacks, drinks, and fishing licenses to ensure a successful and enjoyable trip.
