Catch the Oldest Fish Species with Rivertrek: Sturgeon Fishing in Portland
Catch the oldest fish species in the world with Rivertrek! Join Captain Wade in Portland on the Columbia or Willamette River for an epic Sturgeon fishing adventure.
Charter Overview
Catch the ancient Sturgeon fish with Rivertrek! Join Captain Wade in Portland for an unforgettable fishing experience on either the Columbia River or the Willamette River. These rivers serve as the migration routes for Sturgeon, one of the oldest fish species in the world. Challenge yourself with these magnificent creatures at the end of your line.
Once you meet Capt. Wade, you'll be welcomed aboard his 23' Willie Boats aluminum vessel. This boat can accommodate up to 6 guests and is equipped with all the necessary navigational electronics, including a 250 HP Yamaha engine and a trolling motor with autopilot.
As Sturgeon are bottom feeders, the most effective method for catching them is to anchor the boat, bait the hook with fresh bait, and patiently wait for your prized catch to appear. These fish are known for their strength and will put up a good fight, making reeling them in a thrilling challenge. Feel your adrenaline surge as you tighten your grip on the line.
From April to September, it's common to catch several Sturgeon weighing anywhere from 50 to 150 pounds. On the best days, you might find yourself limited only by how many fish you can handle, as your arms will surely grow tired from the intense action!
Whether you're looking to reel in a day's worth of fish or aiming for your personal record, exploring the Columbia and Willamette Rivers with Rivertrek offers an exceptional catch-and-release fishing experience.
