The size difference between L and XL are significantly different. Shoulders are tight in L and feels to fitted. XL is better in shoulders but to wide on bottom. Also no face shield protection, like last years. Good for rain and outdoor work. No so much for the cold. Needs to be more roomy so I ccx an were long sleeves with goody underneath.

Does Not Live Up to its Name
The Carhartt Storm Defender Jacket sounded perfect - a burly work-forward suit of armor against the elements. However, after owning it for only two seasons, I am extremely disappointed - it falls way short of "Carhartt-tough" and "storm defender". I experienced moderate rain recently while working outside and after about 15 minutes, it wetted out. Then after about 30 minutes, it absorbed water in the sleeves and hemline, and became noticeably heavier. I would not recommend this jacket for inclement weather duty. It looks tough and you'll feel protected when the weather is pleasant, but come actual rain, you will be gravely disappointed.

Is this the perfect jacket?
This jacket is perfect. The perfect warmth factor right between many lighter rain "shells" and many heavier "winter" coats. the neoprene sleeve-ends are great too, especially over gloves. I'm going to be wearing this in all but the coldest weather and for the Carrhart price, it simply can't be beat!

I've been looking for a jacket like this!
I've been looking for a jacket like this! It is a substantial jacket that can withstand tough spring and fall weather. The materials and construction are good quality. The zippers seem strong and built to last. I would have appreciated the body to be a bit longer. and while I appreciate the hood a lot, i'd have liked it better if it could be folded away in the collar.

Quality jacket for all occasions.
Great jacket. I wanted a quality jacket for cold weather that I could wear out and to church if needed. This jacket fits the bill!

Rugged?
Good jacket but the plastic zipper broke after a year. Zippers are not covered under the warranty. So much for ruggedness.
