Great jacket!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Many great features on this jacket. Easy to zip up and down, with large pockets outside and inside. Hood draws down tightly around the face. Plus, the jacket looks great.

Love this

Awesome jacket. Fits really well - loose with room for layers and room to move around in the hips but still slim fitting, long enough that it hits under my butt; arms are a little long but no worries. Good amount of pockets. Totally waterproof. Zipper can be just a little tricky when going two-way but otherwise technically perfect.

Just about perfect

This jacket is perfect for the PNW. I stay warm and dry in all conditions including wet snow and rain. I layer underneath to keep warm on cold days and on warmer days the vents are perfect. The Velcro down the front is also a plus because you can unzip but still keep the front closed if needed. Stitching is high quality! Pockets are great and honestly not much different than similar jackets of other brands. Only reason for 4/5 stars is that the main front zipper can stick sometimes and be difficult to zip and unzip.

Perfect Jacket!

I am right on the plus size line. I usually wear a 16W or 18 and I tried on several XL Jackets this season and they were all too tight around the butt/ hips area. This jacket has a relaxed fit which worked perfectly for me! I love all the pockets and the fact that it is long and covers my butt for when I sit and stake breaks in the snow. I have used this jacket for both snowshoeing and snowboarding on bluebird and rain/snow mix days and have stayed dry and warm. I am so happy I decided to buy this jacket... it is the perfect winter jacket for the PNW!

An 'ok' shell, a little restrictive in the upper back/arm

I have been on the search for new shell for skiing/snowboarding in bounds that has the versatility to take in the side country or backcountry if need be. What I like: Longer coverage in the back. I am 5'8 and like the longer back coverage for added protection if I am not wearing bibs. I also like the style of a longer "freeride" coat. I appreciate that it is a relaxed-fit style so I can easily layer an insulated puffy on the coldest days in-bounds in addition to a base layer. The one thing I did notice though is that the fit is a little more boxy than I'd like and I was really surprised by the lack of mobility in the back and shoulders. It felt restrictive - one thing I do not like in a ski jacket. However, the body of the coat felt relaxed, but the upper back and arms felt tight. Which is surprising as I own several OR jackets and I usually find the opposite to be true (tighter in the torso/hips and plenty of room in the upper body.) I have the women's Skytour AscentShell from a couple years ago that I wear for backcountry use or when I know I will need something that breathes and moves well and it's he opposite, I have almost too much room in the upper body and the fit is too tight around my hips. This could be because the Mt. Baker Storm jacket does not have the stretch like the skytour or hemispheres. I have not taken the coat out in to the elements yet. Because of the restrictive fit in the upper body, I may be returning and purchasing the Hemispheres coat (more stretch and still has the goretex protection). For size reference: I am 5'8, between the size of 14-16, and pretty athletic build (with 20 extra lbs of covid weight). I ordered the XL. The "body" of the coat was relaxed and very roomy, but the shoulders/upper back were tight.

Massive disappointment

First off it's a shell which isn't clear from the product description. It's not going to keep you warm. On the upside it covers the butt. I don't know where the terrible trend came from to sell jackets for snow sports that don't actually keep you warm. Essentially this is the jacket you buy if you already have a jacket that you want to wear under it. The product description repeatedly used the word "lining" which led me to believe it was actually a lined jacket. Definitely can't travel with the jacket unless you bring another coat for when you want to do non ski activities like going out to dinner. It also says there's an insulated pocket for your phone. Not a chance the insulation is going to keep that phone warm unless you are in direct sun. The pass pocket doesn't really work either. I was hoping it was the kind you slide the pass in real snug with the clear plastic. Unfortunately it's got a weird plastic clip that doesn't fit through the hole in my pass, I though I was going to have to snap it to get my pass off. I can't put a key ring on the pass cause that interferes with the RFID reader. If I keep the jacket I'll probably have to cut it out if I want the pass to read. The pocket is big enough I would be afraid to just put the pass in because I would probably lose it so might just ignore that pocket all together. The overall fit is a little weird because the neck area is huge. I assume that's for the hood to fit over your helmet which it does but I'm not sure how much snow is going to directly blow down your chest. It's got that sloppy park rat fit which I like but having to wear lots of layers just kind of makes you look fat. Also no thumb holes, just big floppy sleeves for the snow to shoot up. The rest is just kind of mediocre at best which is a shame when you think about the price point.
