This hat has an adjustable cord around the base so it will fit any adult head. I'm a 7 1/2, it fits loose, medium or tight, however I adjust it. Made of polyester
The brim contains a thin layer of flexible plastic sandwiched between two layers of fabric (the whole brim is 1.3mm thick). It is highly flexible, but does not hold its shape at all when compared to baseball-style sports cap of similar construction (thin, synthetic fabric & plastic-reinforced brim). If you ever machine wash it, fold it, or put it inside a gear bag, the brim will take on a wavy, warped potato-chip shape. It still works fine, but the look quickly becomes goofy & disheveled: more Hillbilly than Crocodile Dundee.
I have a shaved head and have never gotten burned when wearing this hat. It offers full protection. The neck is not covered enough for protection in all areas if you are wondering.
The hat does flatten in a suitcase. I have folded it as well.
