What does it mean when you plug the light in to USB to charge & the red light flashes? In a properly operating system during charging, the red light stays fully lit. When the battery is fully charged, the red light flashes. Typically if you plug the charging cable into what is believed to be a fully charged battery, the light will stay lit approx up to 30 seconds until it is determined that it is fully charged, then it will start to flash.

Will these rust in salt water? If you rinse them with fresh water after exposure to salt water, they should be fine. All external parts are plastic, so they will not rust. However, don't think they're designed to be submerged underwater.

Are these really waterproof? I would think that they would be fine in the rain. I would not submerge them as the USB port rubber plug might not be 100% waterproof! Great little product for the kayak, nice rubber straps!
