Coleman Sun Shelter

Coleman Sun Shelter

Description

I recently purchased the Coleman Beach Sun Shelter and it has been a game-changer for my beach trips. This portable pop-up beach tent offers 50+ UPF sun protection, which is crucial for those long hours under the sun.

One of the great features of this sun shelter is the extended front floor that zips for added privacy. It allows you to create a cozy space for yourself or your family. Additionally, the back window can be unzipped to provide ventilation, keeping you cool on those hot summer days.

The Coleman Beach Sun Shelter also comes with integrated storage pockets, perfect for keeping your essentials within reach. There is also a dry line to hang wet clothing, eliminating the need to lay them on the sand.

Setting up this sun shelter is a breeze and takes only about 5 minutes. Simply slide the poles down and into the slots, and it's done. The package includes ground stakes and pre-attached guy lines for added stability.

In terms of portability, this product is very lightweight. It easily goes over your shoulder, making it ideal for beach vacations where all the umbrellas are taken. I personally bought it to take my three-month-old to the beach, and it was exactly what I needed.

While this sun shelter performs well in normal windy conditions, it's not recommended for heavy winds. If the weather is extremely windy, it's best to avoid using it altogether. However, if it's just a moderately windy day at the beach, the shelter will hold up just fine.

The stakes that come with the sun shelter are not suitable for use in the sand. I recommend using regular plastic grocery bags as sandbags to secure the tent. Double bag each one, fill it with sand, tie the guy lines to it, and bury the sandbags. This provides a secure hold without disturbing the overall appearance of the shelter.

One of the impressive aspects of this tent is its ability to stay noticeably cooler inside, even in scorching temperatures outside. Additionally, for added protection, spraying the top with water-proofing spray is a wise precaution in case of unexpected rainfall in tropical settings.

The Coleman Beach Sun Shelter folds up surprisingly small. I would estimate it to be around 18-24 inches long and about 4-6 inches in diameter, or perhaps even smaller.

Frequently Asked Questions

is this the pop up one?

No, not twist and pop up, but slide the poles down and in to the slots and its done. Super fast setup.

What does it weigh ? i.e. Is it good for beach vacations where all the umbrellas are taken ?

This product is very light. If easily goes over your shoulder. Its prefect for the beach. I nought mine to take my three month old to the beach. It was exactly What I needed.

how's it do in heavy wind?

In heavy wind, really heavy, we don't use it at the beach or any park. It's not enjoyable to be outdoors sitting when it's super windy. Let's pretend we did use it in windy conditions. Normal windy like a beach can have, it will be fine. I have no idea why one of the comments stated it would turn into a kite and fly away. If it's looking like a hurricane is coming, why use it at all. If it's just an super windy day at the beach, if your gear is inside and you are in there, it won't be a kite. Also, don't use the stakes that come with it in the sand. They are for dirt on the regular ground, not sand. You can buy longer stakes for the sand if you want but we use regular plastic grocery bags. We double bag each one, fill it with sand, tie the guy lines to it then bury the sand bags. They are out of the way, not seen, holding your tent securely. We have used the stakes that come with it just to hold down the floor that extends out like a porch or patio beyond the inside of the tent. You can lose them down in the sand if you don't pay attention to where they are and when you know where they should be, it takes very little effort to find them if one gets mashed down into the sand from getting stepped on a lot. One thing that we were pretty amazed about was how it was noticeably cooler inside the tent even if it was super hot outside of the tent with the sun beating down. We also sprayed the top of ours with water proofing spray just in case, because in a tropical setting, a rain can come and go. No worries with this awesome tent. If it's not a severe cloud burst, you probably can still sit out in it. If it's a big rain that's heavy, we could simply zip it up and wait it out. If it was a severe rain and wind or thunderstorm, all nasty and scary, odds are we listened to the weather report and opted not to even go out that day.

How small does this item fold up?

It folds up pretty small. I would estimate 18-24" long and about 4-6" diameter. Maybe a little smaller.
