This system installs easily on indoor garage ceilings to store and protect kayaks, canoes, surfboards, paddle boards, and paddles. Garage Gator is so easy to use! A wired key-access controller reels the super-strong storage lift bar up and down, saving you heavy lifting and possible injury.
Use the nylon kayak straps on the lift bar to securely hold your kayak in place, preventing damage, scrapes, or scratches to your canoes, boards, or boats while not in use. I have a tandem kayak that is almost 24 ft. long. Can the distance between the hoisting cables be adjusted to more than four feet?

How close can you lift your paddle board to the ceiling? I love this, but I only have 30 inches from the ceiling to the garage door.
I have an ocean kayak. It hangs 31 inches down from ceiling to the bottom of the kayak. You should have no problem with a paddleboard.
If my kayak will fit through the garage door on my car, can I lift and lower my kayak directly to and from my car?
Yes, you can, with some considerations. I installed a Garage Gator a few months ago and can lower it to the roof racks with the garage door closed. When the kayak is hoisted into storage position, it is above the garage door when it's open. Examine the location of the kayak on your car, in the garage. How close is the center line of the kayak to the mid-point between the cables? Imagine where you'll have to install the Gator to make these two measurements as close together as possible. Determine if there is anything in the way on the garage ceiling, for instance, the door opening mechanism. Lastly, you can only get the kayak so close to the garage ceiling as the whole Gator and lifting straps limit how high you can lift it. Because of this, I deviated a bit from the installation instructions by installing the Gator in the attic above the garage ceiling so the lifting cables go up through the ceiling. But that's another whole (long) story. Good luck. The Gator is a well-designed and built system.
