Size chart
I couldn't find a size chart, so I based what size to buy based on the feedback from other buyers. I bought a size small, and that fits perfect for my Chihuahua who weighs about 14pds. I still have plenty of room for adjustments. If your dog is smaller, I would recommend buying the XS. Hope this helps :)
Most of the other life jackets for dogs that I read the reviews, specifically state that they won't keep the dog's head above water and that they raise the back end of the dog while lowering the head into the water. Does this life jacket keep the dog's head above water, or does it force it down into the water?
Indirectly, yes. If you look at the pictures in the reviews you will see that the vest is mostly on the front half of the dog. Allowing the chest to float and the butt to sink results in raising the head as long as the dog is conscious. A full-length vest would allow the head to go down.
How do the sizes run?
From what I remember, a little large. My dog was right on the cusp of the next size up. (90 lbs) So I got him the large as opposed to the extra large. Fits him perfectly. He is a 90 lb long hair German Shepherd. Hope this helps. Carol
