You can use a USB CF reader to backup as well. The purpose behind the two different USB ports is to provide the ability to have both a USB CF reader and an External Drive plugged in at the same time. The total amp draw needs to be less than 1amp to work properly.
Hi Vincent - thanks for your question! Regardless of the file format or type, the box is designed to back up at between 2-4 GB/min depending on the speed of the card. This means that it should take between ~8-16 minutes to do this backup.
