Just received this helmet today and the first thing I did was check the flaps due to reading this question earlier. The answer is YES! There frame around the ear remains and is sturdy enough to provide some protection but the portion that completely covers the ear is an insert and is easily removed and replaced when needed.

The front of helmet still has slight curvature. But I’m not familiar w/all the ways u can attach a GoPro... so if surface needs to b completely flat then no, but if an attachment can handle slight curves then possibly. So unfortunately w/out knowing all GoPro prerequisites I can’t give u a definite answer.
