I think you could probably get a 12 pack in a 20L bag. Can't believe this information was not included in the specs. Sheesh. I never thought of putting dog food in it, but it would probably fit around 35-40 pounds.

The biggest size available is the 40L. I personally carried a cozy thick Coleman sleeping bag in it, and that was all it could fit. The best size for carrying everyone's things will depend on how you define "things" for 5 people.
