How flexible is the base? My kayak has a steeply pitched center frame on the deck. It would probably work for you. The base is flexible.

Can this compass be used in the southern hemisphere? Yes

Just received and want to know if I have the southern hemisphere version or something? Mine dips with NW being the high point and SE being the low point. What to do? You might need to adjust for declination.

Is the harness removable for use like a handheld? And is there a light source (chemical or battery)? Does not have a removable harness. There is no light source. Best use is on the kayak. I really like it easy to see from different angles.
