I'm Abigail Scott, an author, adventurer, and mother of three. When I'm not navigating the beautiful chaos of motherhood, you can find me tackling the turbulent waters as a professional whitewater kayaker or scaling impressive rock faces as a climbing guide. The rush of adrenaline, whether from kayaking or climbing, is a feeling I cherish deeply. But the thrill doesn't stop there; I capture the breathtaking allure of nature through my lens as a professional photographer. And when I'm not submerged in the wild, my software engineering skills amplify my outdoor pursuits, allowing me to harness technology in unique ways. Through my writings, whether articles or blog posts, I share not just my adventures but my heart, hoping to spark a flame of inspiration in others to break boundaries and experience the world's wonders.

GTS Expedition Kayak Seat

GTS Expedition Kayak Seat

Description

This top of the line kayak seat is designed for all day sitting with maximum comfort. The contour molded, 18” tall, thermoformed foam backrest features comfortable grooves specifically shaped for spine-hugging support and wrap around lumbar stability, and the 2” thick seat bottom has deep comfort channels that also serve as drainage for excess cockpit water.

Like all of the GTS line, the Expedition is constructed from our trademarked, thermoformed foam/plastic/fabric blend. This desirable high performance blend is achieved by sandwiching a flexible polyethylene plastic sheet between a molded EVA foam face and a 600 denier high density fabric/foam laminate back. This combination of soft and hard gives the paddler exactly what they need: a high quality, long lasting kayak seat with firm comfortable support for hours of paddling.

The Expedition features our triangulated rear strapping system for customizable comfort you won’t find anywhere else. We have virtually eliminated that annoying "kayak seat slippage" with this 6 point rear attachment design. With this versatile and infinitely adjustable rear lock down system the paddler pulls the rear of the kayak seat from two adjustable upper points which determine the lean, and two adjustable lower points which combat any forward slippage. This method of counterbalancing the pull points secures the seat back to the boat and provides an extremely supportive and comfortable back plane.

*The GTS Expedition fits any sit-on-top kayak.

*18” tall backrest and 2” thick seat bottom provide unrivaled support and comfort.

*Deep comfort/drainage channels in the seat bottom funnel excess cockpit water.

Built with our proprietary process of layered foam, fabric, and plastic, compression molded at 400 °F and 60 tons of pressure.

*6 point rear attachment system for customizable comfort.

*Seat Back: 18”L x 21”W

*Seat Cushion: 16”L x 18”W x 2”H

Will this work on a 2007 hobbies mirage ocean kayak? Me and my husband have bad backs and really want to enjoy our kayaks again. If this works it may

I don't know this particular kayak, but I have also an ocean kayak and the seat works fine. The straps adjust to a wide range of fastening points. I wouldn't worry since Amazon is very good about returning items that don't work for you.

Will this work in a Hobie Evolution?

Unsure. It is adjustable using 4 separate attachment points with straps. 2 forward at the top sides and 2 in the back at the sat level. So if the Hobie has 4 attachment points (2+2) you should be able to adjust. If you don't have the attachment points you will need to add.

I need this by September 22. Can I get it that soon if ordered today?

You should. Based on recent orders, high priority items related to coronavirus are shipping first. You can expect a delay in shipping of a minimum of 30 days.

Is this as comfortable as a standard boat seat? I'm thinking of just mounting a boat seat, but want to stay low in the kayak as well.

It is certainly more comfortable than the less expensive simpler versions. Better back support. A hard boat seat may still be better support but storage may be an issue.
