For me (older female) this is too much effort to do regularly, so once I put the rack on in the spring I don't remove it until the snow falls. The rack is fairly compact and does detract from the beauty of my vehicle (Buick Encore) so I don't mind. So, in the end it is easy to remove but only as fast as you can unscrew the hitch pin and a simple key turn to remove the lock that secures the rack to the hitch.
