Do you have to use the lock core or can they be used as is to secure the clips to the towers with no lock? The lock cylinders are not required to use the Q Tower system. We would definitely recommend them if you're in a not-so-nice area or otherwise concerned about theft of the rack.
Does this come with the steel housing that hold everything together? Yes, it comes with the housing that holds everything together where you put in the lock core. This does NOT INCLUDE the lock core.
Does this come with key? No. This is just the house thing. The lock cores go inside of the house saying, Cores come with the key.
Do these work on the Yakima Q tower system? Yes. I ordered them to replace my lost Q Tower factory locks. They were an exact replacement.
